Farmer before court for alleged kidnapping of two boys

Twifo-Praso(C/R), June 21, GNA- A 49-year-old farmer, who allegedly locked two boys, aged three and four years in a cupboard, and left them screaming and sweating profusely, was on Tuesday committed to stand trial for kidnapping at a high court in Cape Coast, by a district magistrate’s court at Twifo -Praso.

Kwabena Tetteh, whose plea was not taken and was remanded in prison custody, is to be arraigned at the high court on Thursday, July 6.

The prosecution told the court, presided over by Mr. Joseph Blay that the two boys went missing, while they were out playing at Twifo-Gyabaakrom, on June 4 this year.

It said upon a tip-off, the mother of one of the boys, found them locked up in a cupboard at the premises of the local D/A Primary School, screaming and sweating profusely.

The prosecution said the woman, Ms Joyce Okyere, then confronted Tetteh, who she had been told had locked up the boys, and followed up with a report to the police.

According to the prosecution, Tetteh admitted the offence when he was arrested, but told the police that he mistakenly locked up the two boys, instead of another boy, who he “had wanted to teach a lesson for being arrogant and disrespectful”.
