A 51-year-old farmer has been arrested by the Tema Regional Police Command for allegedly murdering a 38-year-old canoe carver at Prampram.

The incident occurred on June 8, 2015 between 2000 hours and 2100 hours, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Juliana Obeng, Tema Regional Police Public Affairs Officer, stated in a press release copied to the Ghana News Agency.

The statement said Tetteh Martey, the suspect, returned home on the day of the incident and met the deceased, Lartey Ayim and two of his friends David Kojo and James Kponortey eating in front of his door.

Martey got angry and confronted them, resulting in verbal exchanges between him and the three persons.

It said Martey, who also engages in hunting, returned into his room and came out with a double barrel short gun and shot twice at the three persons.

The statement said Kojo and Kponortey sustained several gunshot wounds, while Ayim was seen by the Police, dead, lying in a pool of blood.
