Farmer, 67, granted 10 million cedi bail

Mankranso (Ash), Aug. 8, GNA – A magistrate’s court at Mankranso last Tuesday granted a 67-year-old farmer at Mabang near Tepa in the Ahafo-Ano North District of Ashanti, 10 million cedis bail for abusing and threatening another farmer.

Akosua Anane pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on August 16. Detective Chief Inspector George Nyansu told the court presided over by Mr Frank Owusu-Afriyie that Madam Afua Bonah, 67, the complainant, shared a common farm boundary with the accused on which they disputed.

He said on May 29, this year, the complainant was working on her farm with three labourers when the accused appeared in the farm suddenly.

Chief Inspector Nyansu said since they had been disputing over the land for over 10 years, the complainant sensed trouble and therefore stood very close to the labourers.

He said immediately the accused saw the complainant, she rained indecent insults on her and told her that had it not been for the presence of the labourers she would have killed her on the farm. The prosecution said after she finished working on the farm, the complainant reported the case to the police at Tepa who arrested the accused and charged her with the offence.
