Farmer, 62, remanded for defilement

Bibiani (W/R), July 18, GNA – The Bibiani Circuit Court has remanded into prison custody a 62-year old farmer for allegedly defiling a 13-year old girl.

The plea of Kwabena Adiewu was not taken and he would re-appear on Thursday, July 28.

Police Detective Chief Inspector Alex Asamoah told the court presided over by Justice Emmanuel Ankamah that both the victim and the accused live at Sefwi-Dominibi Number One, a farming community near Bibiani.

On July 4, at about 1930 hours, the girl left the house to attend to nature’s call and after waiting for hours without her returning the parents became anxious.

They began looking for her and managed to trace the victim to the room of Adiewu, following a tip-off.

The prosecution said they saw the girl hiding under the bed of the accused when they forced his door open.

A report was made to the police and Adiewu was arrested.

Police Detective Chief Inspector Asamoah said a medical report signed by doctors who treated her confirmed that she had been defiled.
