Farm labourer jailed for stealing

Nyinahin (Ash.) Nov. 11, GNA -A magistrate’s court at Nyinahin in the Ashanti Region, has sentenced a 27-year old farm labourer to 24 months imprisonment for stealing a ram. Attingana Atongo pleaded guilty to the offence. Police Chief Inspector Napoleon Isaac Asherow told the court, presided over by Mr Augustine Essah that both the convict and complainant, Madam Asana Kubila, lived at Mmawaninha, near Bibiani. Prosecution said that on November 1 at about 0200 hours, a police patrol team spotted Atongo with the animal at the outskirts of Bibiani. Chief Insp Aserow said when members of the team interrogated the Atongo about the ram, he said he was going to sell it on behalf of his landlord. Prosecution said they were not convinced and demanded that the convict took them to the landlord for verification. Chief Insp Asherow said the landlord denied Atongo’s claim and upon further interrogation, the convict admitted stealing the animal from the pen of Madam Kubila. 11 Nov. 09
