Fanteakwa youth to march against Fulanis

The youth of Fanteakwa in the Eastern Region have planned a demonstration against Fulani herdsmen in the area on Monday, February 15.

“We wish to notify all youth of Fanteakwa to come on board as we demonstrate against the Fulani herdsmen as they troop into our District.

“We want to alert the district Security Council headed by the district chief executive to be on their toes to prevent the herdsmen from trooping into our district, we know the harm and mess these Fulani herdsmen have caused to our dear District. We are, therefore, calling all and sundry to join us address this issue as soon as possible,” Concerned Youth of Fanteakwa said in a statement issued Tuesday, February 9.

The nonpartisan group, which says it pursues the interest of the people of Fanteakwa and its people, has, therefore, encouraged all residents in the area, irrespective of their political affiliation, to join the “worthy course.”

The demonstration will start from Otuate Junction to Ahomahumasu School Park.

There has been rising tension between the nomadic herdsmen and their host communities in the Ashanti, Volta and Eastern Regions recently. It has led to deaths and destruction of property on both sides.
