Family of ‘gay’ doctor attack journalists

Some family members of alleged gay doctor, Dr. Sulley Ali-Gabass, on Friday assaulted journalists who had gathered to cover his appearance in court.

The incident, which took place at the Cocoa Affairs Court in Accra, happened when the doctor was being escorted to the vehicle which would transport him to prison custody.

When he stepped out of the courtroom, the journalists at the premises started taking pictures and videos of him.

This move angered some family members who were also in court to lend their support to the doctor.

The doctor has since confessed to sodomising a 16-year-old boy about five times. The boy in question is now HIV positive but the doctor has denied infecting the boy with the disease.

The family members in their bid to prevent the videoing of Dr. Gabass shoved and heckled the journalists. One of them who sustained injuries on his arm and limping as a result of the attack is TV3’s Peter Quao Adattor and another journalist from Multi TV. Other journalists run for cover following the chaotic nature of the incident.

The accused – Dr. Sulley Ali Gabass – has, however, pleaded not guilty and the case has been adjourned to November 25. He is currently being remanded in prison custody

He is a senior medical doctor at Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Takoradi and attributed his sexual orientation to nature while still claiming it was a mistake.
