Fake military officer nabbed in Ashanti regional

Police in the Ashanti Region are holding a 35-year-old man for impersonation.

Stephen Akpalege was arrested by the anti-armed robbery patrol team while escorting some two persons with what was suspected to be illegal timber logs.

The suspect was arrested in full military uniform with a pump action gun along with the two others who were identified as Kojo Appiah and Simon Dwumfuor.

ASP Mohammed Tanko, the Ashanti Regional Police PRO who confirmed the news to Class News, said the police team arrested the culprits on the Sunyani-Kumasi highway as they were transporting the logs from the Brong Ahafo Region to Ashanti regional capital.

Upon interrogation, it emerged that Akpalege was not a military officer. The truckload of timber has been impounded as investigations continue with the suspects in police custody.
