Fake Doctor Arrested in Kasoa for Fraud and Impersonation Scheme

A man posing as a medical doctor has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service for allegedly defrauding unsuspecting victims under the guise of securing international travel opportunities. The suspect, identified as Fredrick Papa Kow-Assifuah, was nabbed during a covert operation by the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) at Kasoa Crispo City in the Central Region.

At the time of his arrest, Kow-Assifuah was dramatically dressed in a white lab coat with a stethoscope around his neck. He had arranged to meet yet another potential victim whom he had lured online, continuing a pattern of deception involving fraudulent travel promises and fake romantic relationships.

A search conducted at the scene revealed several medical items including two stethoscopes, intravenous drips, syringes, sample bottles, a roll of plaster, six bottles of vaccines, a Ghanaian passport, and a cash amount of GH¢8,500.

During police interrogation, the suspect confessed to impersonating a doctor affiliated with the United Brain Hospital in Mallam, Accra. He also admitted to using this false identity to initiate intimate online relationships with women, convincing them to part with money for supposed travel arrangements to Europe.

Kow-Assifuah is currently in police custody and assisting with investigations. He is expected to be arraigned before court soon.

The Ghana Police Service has urged the public to be vigilant against such fraudulent schemes and to report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
