Faculty of Integrated Studies admits 1,240 fresh students

Wa, Oct. 27, GNA- Admission of fresh students into the various faculties of the University for Development Studies (UDS) within the next two years, will be based strictly on the university’s gender policy of parity for both sexes.

This was announced at Wa on Monday by Professor J.B.K. Kaburise, Vice Chancellor of the University at the eleventh matriculation ceremony of UDS at which 1,240 fresh students were formally admitted into the Wa Campus of the Faculty for Integrated Studies of the UDS. Out of the number 362 are female.

The new students were formally admitted into the university after swearing of matriculation oath administered by Mr Felix Akuffo, Registrar of the University.

Professor Kaburise reminded the new students on the need to use dialogue as the most important option in solving problems and not demonstrations and confrontations.

He warned that ignorance of regulations or of any public notice will not be accepted as an excuse for breach of discipline. Prof. Kaburise pointed out that the UDS is the only public funded university, which started operating without seed money and therefore called on the government to give the university the special attention it deserves.

He announced that plans are far advanced for the introduction of post-graduate degree courses in Masters in Development Studies and Masters in Cross-Cultural Studies.
