Factions of Winners Chapel advised to remain calm

Tema, Feb.20, GNA – Assistant Superintendent of Police Daniel Laryea Odai, Tema Regional Police Commander, has advised factions within Winners Chapel to stay away from its church premises at Tema until the final determination of a case involving the church pending before court. ASP Odai gave the advice after an imminent clash between the factions of Bishop George Agyemang and Bishop Oyeedepo on Saturday, February 18, during which four Nigerians were arrested but later released.

At a meeting with leaders of both factions, the Regional Commander asked them to stay away from the premises until the case had been adjudicated to ensure peace prevailed within the Municipality. Ghana News Agency investigations indicated that Bishop Agyemang’s faction went to the church premises under police protection to clean up the place and few minutes later some members of the other faction appeared and forced their way to the premises.

Police reinforcement was called in to restore peace and four Nigerians belonging to Bishop Oyeedepo’s faction were arrested but later released.
