Facebook attack on Wa residents: Police headquarters to investigate officer

The Policewoman who insulted residents of Wa in the Upper West region on Facebook has been transferred to the Police headquarters in Accra for further investigations into the matter.

Believe Amedzro described the residents as ‘fools’ and their forefathers ‘criminals’, on her Facebook wall Tuesday.

Reports say the comments were in reaction to the conduct of some residents following the unprovoked shooting of a motor rider by a Police officer in the town last Saturday.

The comment has sparked massive anger among residents with many calling for her immediate transfer from the Municipality. Others have also threatened to exact their own justice on her if the Police command does not take immediate action.

Although she has denied making the comments on Facebook, the regional police command says the matters is being taken seriously.

The upper West regional police commander ACP Otchere Boabea told Starr News the development is unfortunate.

“Our attention has been drawn to the comments on Facebook by the female police officer and we deem it unfortunate. The IGP has been informed, and on behalf of the IGP and the regional police command we offer our sincere apologies. Meanwhile, the Policewoman is being investigated, she is being sent to Accra for the necessary action to be taken,” he said.
