The Atlantic Federation of African Press Agencies (FAAPA), on Monday began a week’s training for journalists from member countries on “web journalism” in Rabat, Morocco.
The seminar is to afford participants the opportunity to master the optimisation for search engines and identify opportunities for development on the web through social media.
Khalil Hachimi Idrissi, FAAPA President and Director General of Morocco News Agency (MAP), said the training session is part of an important strategy to develop the human resources of the news agencies of the Atlantic Federation.
He called on journalists to use the knowledge they would acquire to enhance the visibility of their agencies on the website.
In October last year, heads of news agencies in Ghana, Guinea Bissau, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Togo, Benin, Cameroon, Niger, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Mauritania, Liberia and host Morocco, met in the Kingdom of Morocco and established the Federation Atlantic of African Press Agency.
The formation of FAAPA is geared towards laying the basis for a strategic partnership, develop professional relations between member countries, share information and multimedia products.
It is also to ensure circulation of information and news concerning any member country.
