Muntaka commissions 24-unit flat for Ghana Immigration Service

The Interior Minister, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has commissioned a four-storey, 24-unit flat for the Ghana Immigration Service in Savelugu, Northern Region.

The facility was built by the State Housing Company, forms part of efforts to improve the living conditions of security personnel in the region.

Speaking at the commissioning, Muntaka said that in 2016, government acting through the Ghana Immigration Service(GIS) entered into an agreement with the State Housing Company(SHC)  to construct the four-storey building.

The project was aimed at providing housing for junior rank officers at the Tamale International Airport.

The Minister added that the project stands as a beacon and testament to Government’s dedication towards improving the living conditions of the Security personnel and their families.

He noted that the government believes when officers are well housed, they are better equipped to perform their duties efficiently and effectively.

The Minister lauded SHC for the work done and expressed appreciation to the chiefs and all those who contributed to making the vision a reality.

He acknowledged the hard work and sacrifices made by security personnel in maintaining the integrity of the country’s borders and ensuring national security.

The Ag. Comptroller-General of GIS, Samuel Basintale Amadu appreciated the government for its efforts to address the accommodation challenges of the service.

He applauded the Minister for his continuous support, noting the keen interest government has shown in improving the operations of the service.

Meanwhile, Muntaka who is currently on a working visit in the area also cut sod at the same location for the construction of another 24-unit flats in Tamale.

The project include added facilities for senior officers stationed at the Tamale International Airport.
