Extend electricity to Nsakina – Ministry of Energy urged

Nsakina (GAR), June 26, GNA – Nii Tetteh Kofi Kwei, Mankralo of Nsakina near Amasaman in the Ga West District, has appealed to the Ministry of Energy to extend electricity to the area to facilitate the setting up of small-scale industries.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Nsakina, he said electricity could be tapped power from Oduman to the township, which was only two kilometres away.

Speaking after a communal labour, Nii Kwei said the people through self-help erected 110 low-tension poles six years ago but their efforts to get the town connected to the national grid had not been successful. Mr John Tetteh Quaye, Chairman of the Nsakina Electrification Committee, said four communities in the area, Afuaman, Manhean, Amanfro and Oduman had been connected leaving the township.

He commended the Ga West District Assembly for providing 10 low-tension poles and called for more efforts to ensure power supply to the town to discourage the youth from migrating to the urban centres in search of non-existent jobs.

The Asafoatse of the town, Nii Commey Tetteh commended the people for their high communal labour spirit.
