Expired goods seized at Kyebi

The East Akim Municipal Environmental Health Officer, Mr Emmanuel Tetteh, and the Assembly man for Kyebi – Ahenbronumu electoral area, Hon Edward Kwame Bekoe Aseidu on a routine exercise have seized several expired quantities of canned foods and provisions.

The items was being sold to unsuspecting customers at Kyebi in the Eastern Region.

Mr Emmanuel Tetteh addressing the issue said, as part of their routine exercise to check the types of foods sold to customers ahead of Christmas dubbed ” Food Safety ” they discovered some quantities of items such as; milk, blue band magerine. Soda club, pure joy juice, Gino frytol bottles, Malta Guinness bottles, Alvaro, Sprite, Heinz tomato spices, tin tomatoes, Minimie chinchin, fanta, white oats among others which has expired since 2014.

According to him, the expired products which have no dates printed on them are being sold at cheap prices to customers.

Mr Tetteh noted that the seized items will be burnt after a court order is secured, adding that his outfit will also put the perpetrators before court to face the law.
