Exhibit a high sense of maturity to ensure peaceful elections

Kumasi, Aug. 9, GNA – A chief has added his voice to the calls on political parties and their supporters to exhibit a high sense of maturity to ensure peaceful presidential and parliamentary elections in December.

Nana Akosah Yiadom III, Amakomhene in Kumasi, said the country needed peace to develop and as such nothing should be done to disrupt the peace.

Speaking at the 20th anniversary and maiden Speech and Prize-giving Day of the Grace Baptist Preparatory and Junior Secondary School at the weekend, he said it was important to give children good education. “They should therefore be given the spiritual and material support and encouragement to enable them to excel in their education and moral pursuits.”

Nana Akosah Yiadom appealed to churches, school authorities and stakeholders in nation building to assist in curbing the spread of the pandemic and eradicating other social vices from the society to save the nation from collapse.

Nana Kyei Baffour, Asemhene, spoke about the Otumfuo Education Fund and said the successful implementation of the fund depended on the hard work that parents, guardians and teachers would put into it. He appealed to teachers, parents and guardians to inculcate in their children and wards good moral discipline so as to promote education.

Mr Anthony Toku-Afriyie, headteacher, said the school had grown in strength not only in the academic field but morally and spiritually as well.

The Reverend Dr Kojo Osei-Wusu, President of the Ghana Baptist Convention, called for the opening of more vocational schools to absorb the increasing number of junior secondary school products.
