Exercise Patience In The Face of Economic Hardship – Mahama

The leader of the People’s National Convention, PNC Dr Edward Mahama, has urged Ghanaians to exercise patience and allow the NPP government to complete its term of office.

Reacting to calls by some opposition leaders that the NPP has failed to deliver on its campaign promises, Dr Mahama said democracy will thrive well in the country if a government is allowed to serve its mandatory four-year term.

According to him, whether a party is doing well or not can only be judged by general elections.

Dr Mahama said the second and third republic government were overthrown midway through their term of office and for that matter it is difficult to measure their performance. Dr Mahama urged Ghanaians to get together and build a prosperous nation.

He said positive change means that there should be strong opposition to put the government on its toes to enhance good governance and rule of law.

The PNC leader noted that the government’s support for Dr Ibn Chambas for the ECOWAS Secretary does not mean that he’s working for the government.

He said it is the government’s responsibility to support Dr Chambas. He said the PNC would strongly contest the Bimbilla seat, which has now become vacant.

The Bimbilla seat was won by the PNC in 1996 and according to Dr Mahama now that Dr Chambas is out of the contest, his party would win back the seat.
