It really feels good to have an elder at home who always ensure that the right thing is being done at the right time since without them, things could go awry.
And it’s great to have a former president who always sees to it that the country he once ruled still remains peaceful.
Such a president is what the Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Junior, considers former President John Agyekum Kufuor to be years after his tenure in office.
According to him, it will not augur well if Mr. J. A. Kufuor is not regarded as one of Ghana’s finest ex-presidents for the pivotal role he’s played in recent times preaching peace to all.
The seasoned journalist is all praise for Mr. Kufuor’s open rebuke of General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, following the dressing down he received at the hands of the nine-member Supreme Court panel hearing the election petition case for making contemptuous statements.
“I listened to President Kufour, and I was amazed how he talked. He was commenting on Sir John’s issue and afterwards I said to myself…after his (Prez Kufuor) retirement, he has been so tremendous. If we are naming former heads of state and Prez Kufuor is overlooked, then it will be a worry.
“…If you critically listened to Prez Kufuor talking, it was so amazing. I decided not to talk on Sir John’s issue again because Prez Kufuor has said it all. He is a good leader,” Pratt told Peace FM flagship morning show, ‘Kokrokoo’
Former President John Agyekum Kufuor disclosed that the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the NPP will consider whether or not, to punish the party’s Chief Scribe this weekend.
Mr. J. A Kufuor, who is also a member of the NPP’s NEC, condemned the behavior of Sir John, describing the punishment handed him by the Supreme Court as appropriate.
Sir John was convicted of criminal contempt and sentenced to a Ghc5,000 fine by the nine-member panel of justices at the Supreme Court adjudicating the 2012 presidential election petition.
