Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has visited President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama at the Jubilee House to extend his condolences and show solidarity following the recent military helicopter tragedy.
The meeting took place in the aftermath of the fatal crash on Wednesday, August 6, at Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region, which claimed eight lives.
Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, along with other senior government officials, received the former president and expressed deep appreciation for his gesture of unity and compassion during this period of national mourning.
The visit served as a poignant reminder of the need for national togetherness in the face of loss, rising above political affiliations.
The crash victims included high-profile figures such as Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Muniru Mohammed, former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye, and NDC Vice Chairman Dr. Samuel Sarpong.
Three Ghana Armed Forces personnel—Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah—were also on board.
The Z-9 military helicopter reportedly lost radar contact before the crash, leaving no survivors.
