Ex-convict jailed six years for stealing

A 44-year-old ex-convict, Kwasi Adulley, has been sentenced to six years imprisonment for stealing a DVD video recorder, a mobile phone, pen drive, RLG hand set and a touch light belonging to a prison officer at Hiawa Prison camp in the Western region.

Kwasi Adulley pleaded guilty.

Prosecuting, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Albert Adiita told the court presided over by Samuel Obeng Diawuo that the convict, who was discharged from Hiawa prison camp on January 12, visited the complainant’s house frequently when he was a prisoner.

DSP Adiita said on January 31, a day after he was discharged, the complainant locked his room but left his window open and went to church.

The convict went to the house, jumped through the window and stole the items.

He said the complainant suspected the convict and on January 23 arrested Adulley with all the stolen items in his room and handed him over to the police.
