Ex-convict jailed 14 years for theft

A 38-year-old ex-convict, Daniel Abdulai, was on Wednesday sentenced to 14 years imprisonment in hard labour by a Cape Coast Circuit Court for conniving with his friend to steal five bags of cement valued GH¢ 760.00.

Abdulai, released from Ankaful Prison on October 23 for stealing, pleaded guilty.

Police Chief Inspector Hevi told the court presided over by Mrs. Eva Bannerman Williams that on Tuesday November 28, Abdulai and Kabutey, his accomplice, broke into an uncompleted building owned by one Madam Beatrice Bentsi -Enchill, a 57-year-old business woman who resides at Pedu in Cape Coast and made away with five bags of cement.

He said the vigilance of residents of the area led to the arrest of Abdulai who admitted to the crime.

However, Kabutey escaped and is being sought by the police.
