Suhum (E/R), May 18, GNA – Kudjo David, a 25-year old ex-convict, on Monday wept bitterly at the Suhum Magistrate Court after his plea for pardon was turned down by the court presided over by Miss Edem Kokuvie-Tay.
The court later convicted David and his friend, Ebenezer Nayi, farmer, to 10 months imprisonment in hard labour for stealing a sheep valued at GH¢ 70.00 Police Chief Inspector Ben Brew, prosecuting, had told the court that the complainant in the case, Adjei Asare, a farmer, and the convict live at Adakwa near Suhum.
He said on May 12, the complainant sent his sheep for grazing in the bush and left them there.
The prosecutor said David who was recently released from the Nsawam prison managed to steal one of the sheep and killed it. He said after killing the sheep, he went to invite his friend, Nayi and while they were preparing the meal, a witness spotted them and made a report to the complainant who also reported the case to the police. The prosecutor said the two friends who went into hiding were later arrested and charged with the offence.
