Ex-convict arrested for siphoning petrol

Koforidua, July 27, GNA – An ex-convict, Kwasi Fenni, had been arrested by the Police at Bunso for siphoning fuel from an articulator truck with registration number GR 1262-11 at Bunso on Monday.

The convict, who sustained injury in the process of his arrest, is currently at the Kyebi Hospital receiving treatment but would be transferred to the Police Hospital later for further treatment.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) K. Gyamera Yeboah, Eastern Regional Commander, the police received information that someone had been siphoning fuel from the faulty vehicle which had been parked at the Bunso junction.

He said on July 25, the Kyebi Police patrol team on its normal rounds saw the suspect siphoning fuel from the vehicle and in an attempt to arrest him he ran into the bush and was pursued by the patrol team.

ACP Gyamera-Yeboah said in the process of pursuing Fenni, the police fired a warning shot which hit him and was rushed to the Kyebi Government Hospital where he had been on admission since.
