EU supports Ejisu-Juaben District with more projects

Ejisu (Ash), March 10, GNA- The European Union (EU) has since 1997, supported the implementation of about 44 micro-projects at a total cost of 1.2 billion cedis in the Ejisu-Juaben district.

The projects include school buildings, clinics, markets, culverts, boreholes and toilet facilities.

Mr Yaw Ahenkora-Afrifa, the District Chief Executive announced this at a workshop held for stakeholders of the EU micro-projects at Ejisu on Tuesday.

It was aimed at sensitising the communities on their roles and responsibilities towards the physical implementation of the programme. Mr Ahenkora-Afrifa noted that the EU had and continue to be the major development partner of the district in the provision of social and economic infrastructure.

He said since community participation and material supply were major components of the programme, it was necessary the participants attached more importance to the workshop in disseminating the knowledge acquired to people in their various communities.

Mr Nketia Sarpong, the EU micro-project Co-ordinator for the Ashanti and Central regions, said the district would benefit from 13 projects at a total cost of 900 million cedis this year.

He said the successful implementation of the first and second phases of the programme were indicative of the enthusiasm the people in the district have for the projects.
