Establish fund to support accident victims – Boateng

Kumasi, July 25, GNA – Mr. Kwame Appiah Boateng, the 2004 CPP parliamentary candidate for the Nhyieaso constituency in Kumasi, has called for the establishment of constituency or district “Memorial Funds” to support the families of accident victims and other bereaved families throughout the country.

In a statement on the recent gruesome accident at Santasi in which 18 members of the Deeper Life Bible Church lost their lives, Mr Boateng, said such funds could act as “Community Insurance” for bereaved families of accident victims.

He said the fund, which might be managed by a bank, could be invested to generate wealth for the families or dependants of accident victims.

Mr Boateng also called for the establishment of a “Community Self-Reliance Fund”, whereby members of a community could contribute and use the funds to provide business loans to members of the community and also to meet orther needs.

The CPP candidate asked residents of Nhyieaso to spearhead the establishment of these community-initiated funds to their advantage.
