Essam Community appeals for a “Metro Bus”

Essam (E/R), April. 27, GNA- The Assembly member for Essam Electoral Area, Mr Reginald Sackey, on Sunday appealed to the authorities of the Metro Mass Bus Services, to extend its services to the area.

He explained that Essam covered over 15 villages, and that the people had difficulties travelling to Akim Oda and its environs in the Birim Central Municipality.

He was speaking in an interview with Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Essam in the Eastern Region on Sunday shortly after a clean up exercise. About 150 residents from more than 8 communities in the area took part in the clean-up to clear weeds in the town as well as cleaning the clinic and school.

Mr Sackey said drivers found it difficult to ply the untarred Akim Oda-Essam road, because of its slippery nature, and that the rout had no drains and gets flooded when it rains.

The assembly member said the people urgently needed a bus to ply the rout, since they walk several kilometres from their communities to join the Akim Oda-Ofoase main road before making it to either Oda or Ofoase.
