Ejisu (Ash), March 13, GNA – The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the Ejisuman Secondary School (ESEC) has presented a 295.5 million-cedi high-occupancy Man-diesel bus to the school. The association purchased the bus through special levies and a loan from the Ejisu-Juaben District Assembly. It has a capacity for 100 passengers.
Nana F.A. Owusu, Headmaster, said at the formal handing over ceremony that it was a big relief to the school and that: “The school can now boast of a reliable means of transport for educational and social trips.”
The Headmaster appeal to the government; corporate bodies and individuals to assist to develop the school’s vast land, which is being threatened by encroachers into additional classroom blocks, staff accommodation and a well-equipped laboratory.
Mr Boadi Soadwa, District Director of Education, praised Mr Yaw Ahenkora Afrifa, the District Chief Executive for what he said was his personal involvement, immense support and commitment towards the development of education in the area.
He noted that within the last three years a lot had been achieved in the provision of physical structures for schools in the district. ESEC had not been left out, as the assembly had provided it with a block of six classrooms and sunk boreholes to solve the acute water problem of the school.
Mr Soadwa reminded the parents that it was not enough to buy a bus for the institution but to ensure that their wards were provided with all the relevant materials required to enhance teaching and learning. He said they should also pay routine visits to find out how their wards were faring.
Dr E.C. Nyarko, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the school, drew attention to the need to take good care of the bus. The chairman of the PTA, Mr Emmanuel Brobbey, gave the assurance that the association would continue to assist to improve conditions in the school to make it conducive for effective academic work.
