Errand boy remanded for defiling mistress’s daughter

A 21 year old factory hand, Michael Kwame Nyamo who is accused of defiling an eight year old at Sapieman on Tuesday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.

Nyamo aka Slim man charged with defilement pleaded not guilty.

The court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku remanded Nyamo into lawful custody to reappear on November 3.

The facts presented by Chief Inspector Judith B. Asante are that the complainant is a petty trader and mother of the victim.

According to prosecution, the complainant, victim and the accused person reside in the same house at Sapieman, near Amasaman in Accra.

Prosecution explained that Nyamo runs errand for the complainant and her husband. On October 15 this year, during the night, complainant’s husband was travelling to his home town and asked the accused person to keep the company of the victim and mother in the house.

Chief Inspector Asante said the complainant asked the accused person to sleep in the victim’s room.

To her surprise, prosecution said the complainant woke up at about 12:17am on the same night, and found Nyamo having sexual intercourse with the victim.

Complainant confronted Nyamo and told him that she would inform her husband when he (husband) returned from the journey.

Prosecution said complainant informed her husband who in turn lodged a complaint with the Police at Amasaman. Later the matter was transferred to the Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit, Accra.

The victim was issued with a medical form to be examined and treated at the hospital.

When Nyamo was arrested he denied the offence, prosecution said.

Chief Inspector Asante said however Police investigations indicate that Nyamo had defiled the victim on two occasions.
