Equip JSS and motivate teachers

Winneba, April 20, GNA – Mr James Kojo Buodu, an educationist, has said increasing senior secondary school education from three years to four years without equipping junior secondary schools and motivating teachers would not help improve education standard in the country. Mr Buodu was speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview at the Basic Education Certificate Examination at the Winneba Secondary School on Tuesday.

He mentioned delay in payment of travelling allowances and claims to teachers and the payment of 25,000 cedis as hospital bills annually to teachers as some of the things that discourage teachers. ”Lack of sufficient supply of teaching and learning materials and equipment at the JSS is also a contributing factor to low standards of education,” Mr Buodu said.
