Entertainment Day Competition

Adventist Senior High School (SHS) emerged champions in a keenly contested Independence Day inter-schools choral competition held at the Centre for National Culture (CNC) in Kumasi.

For their prize, they took home a trophy, multi television (TV) digital box and a certificate.

Last year’s winners of the event, Konongo-Odumase SHS, came second, with Barekese SHS, taking the third position.

They were presented with a multi TV digital box and a certificate of participation, respectively.

The competition was put together by the CNC and the Ghana Education Service (GES).

The goal was to help unearth music talents, promote togetherness and inspire the students to be patriotic.

Mr Samuel F. Adjei, Ashanti Regional Director of the CNC, vowed to continue to work hard to protect and preserve the nation’s cultural heritage.

He said they would do everything to whip up the interest of the youth in choral and traditional music.

In line with this, they had initiated a number of competitions and programmes, including “AU Day brass band music” and “folktale” competitions for basic schools.

He appealed to the school children to see cultural activities as important part of their education.

Mr Yaw Donkor, Deputy Ashanti Regional Cultural Coordinator, gave the participants high marks for their performance and urged them to train hard.
