Ensure that ballot papers are stamped -Fokuo

Obogu (Ash), Dec. 3, GNA – Mr DeGraft Fokuo, National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Asante-Akim South, on Friday called on voters to ensure that the ballot papers that would be given to them on December 7 to cast their votes were stamped and signed by the election staff.

He said ballot papers would be rejected during counting if they did not have the Electoral Commission’s stamp on them and not signed by the electoral officer.

Mr Fokuo, who was speaking at NDC rallies at Obogu, Banso, Ofoase, Dwendwenase, Morso, Kurofa, Adomfe and Wankyi, cautioned voters to make sure that their thumbprints on the candidate of their choice were not extended to other boxes.

He called on NDC supporters to promote peaceful elections by avoiding abusive language during their campaigns and emphasized that “we should be tolerant in the face of extreme provocation”.

Mr Fokuo said voters should not cast their votes on party lines but look at what the candidate, who has offered himself to serve and what he could do for them, pointing out that, “we should be careful not to endorse a candidate who has not served the constituency”.

He assured the party faithfuls that, when he is elected, he would take education seriously by holding constant meetings with the stakeholders, because of the low level of education in the area.

In addition, “I would show much concern about the improvement of roads, the extension of electricity to other villages, who are still on the waiting list, help to improve health facilities and improve water situation”.
