Ensure fair access to empowerment programs – Youth

Juabeso (W/R), Oct. 9, GNA – The youth of Sefwi Juabeso have appealed to the National Youth Authority (NYA) to ensure that all Ghanaian youth have a fair access to youth empowerment programmes.

They made the appeal at Sefwi Juabeso during a Youth Health forum organized by the NYA under the “Better Ghana Youth Caravan” Project which is geared at disseminating the National Youth Policy.

Mr Solomon Fuachie, District Chief Executive for Juabeso, said he was happy with how the youth were responding to the “Better Ghana Youth Caravan” Project adding that it was important for all to play an active role in the project.

He appealed to the youth to take advantage of the programmes like the LESDEP and National Youth Employment Programme to acquire knowledge and skills for development.

Mr Shaibu Adam, a health officer of the Juabeso Government Hospital, said despite the extensive education campaign on HIV/AIDS and other reproductive health diseases, there has been little change in the lifestyles of the people.

At a similar forum at Prestea, the youth urged District Assemblies to enact bye-laws to stem the increase in gambling and the use of drugs by young people.

The caravan has also been to the Sefwi Wiawso District and the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality.
