Enhance transparency in administration

Darbaa (Ash), May 19, GNA – Heads of basic and second cycle institutions have been advised to promote transparency in their schools to enhance quality teaching and learning.

Mr Richard Owusu-Agyemang, Atwima District Community Participation Co-ordinator, who gave the advice, also called on school authorities to effectively liase with the communities and other stakeholders to identify and solve problems that militate against academic progress. Mr Owusu-Agyemang, who is an Assistant director of Education in-charge of public relations at the education directorate, was addressing teachers, students and other stakeholders at an educational forum at Darbaa, near Akropong in the Atwima-Nwabiagya district on Tuesday.

It was aimed at strengthening school-community relationship with a view to identifying educational problems and needs and developing the appropriate mechanism to address them.

He said quality leadership, open administration and a healthy cordial inter-personal relationship, are crucial for improved moral and academic output in schools and advised school managements to promote good governance.

Madam Irene Comfort Badu, an Assistant Director of Education in-charge of School Health Education at the directorate, said the provision of adequate health care for pupils and students was vital for the effective promotion of academic work and advised parents to take good care of their wards.

She was not happy about the increasing number of school going age children who are doing street hawking, especially in the cities and towns and implored parents and guardians to ensure the proper upbringing of their wards.
