Encourage your wards to acquire vocational education

Madam Matilda Anim, the Eastern Regional President of the Ghana Hairdressers and Beauticians Association (GHABA), has called on parents to avail their wards for technical and vocational training.

She said it is better to do this than force them to go through the formal education system adding that this would also help lower the unemployment rate in the country.

Madam Anim, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Koforidua, said vocational training is no longer as it is perceived in some quarters and that trainees are made to undertake the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) examinations to ensure that they gain the practical and theoretical aspects of their chosen fields.

She said the Association will be organizing classes on weekends for members to keep them updated in some vocations including hair techniques and how to maintain a healthy hair.

Madam Anim appealed to the New Juaben Municipal Assembly to provide hair dressing accessories to needy but willing youths who complete the apprenticeship program.
