Encourage cultural studies – Amofa

Kibi (Eastern Region), 8 Dec. ’98 – Owuraku Amofa, Deputy Minister of Tourism, has called on school authorities to encourage the teaching and learning of culture and tradition alongside ”classroom work”. He said children must be assisted to appreciate the rich culture of the country to enable them to uphold it when they grow. Mr Amofa was speaking at the Children’s Day of Christ-Heard Preparatory school at Kibi in the East Akyem District. He commended the school for its academic achievements and assured the children of his support to enhance the standard of education in the area. The Headteacher of the school, Mr Thomas Yaw Kani, said the achievements of the school was possible through the selfless efforts of the dedicated teachers. He appealed for assistance to put up a permanent building for the school.
