Kumasi, Aug. 19, – A 100 million-cedi Expedited Mail Service (EMS) Office complex has been completed in Kumasi to help enhance the service delivery of the Ghana Postal Services Corporation (GPSC) in Ashanti Region. The project which was started early this year was finace with the Corporation’s own resources. Mr Samuel Adu-Boafo, Ashanti Regional Director of GPSC, who conducted newsmen round the project, in addition to the office complex, the Corporation has spent 122 million cedis to construct a new Post Office at Jamasi. Those at New-Edubiase, Ejura and Fomena have been rehabilitated. The Regional Director said innovations introduced by the GPSC to expand and improve its commercial viability include the establishment of a Post shop, a cassette post facility and the operation of Communication and Information Centres. Without giving figures, Mr Adu-Boafo said mail theft has reduced significantly in the region as a result of strict monitoring and supervision. He appealed to the public to refrain from putting money in letters. Meanwhile, the GPSC, has taken delivery of 8,000 letter boxes from South Korea.
