Employment Minister Charges Departments To Produce Results

Accra, (Greater Accra) 11 Nov.,

The Minister of Employment and Social Welfare, Mr. Mohammed Mumuni, today urged departments under his Ministry to produce results in spite of the economic constraints facing the government. He said when they do this, their demands for better conditions of service, more resources and logistics would be justified. The minister gave the advice when he visited five departments and units under his ministry where he met the staff and exchanged views with them. Mr. Mumuni said his ministry is a sensitive one, considering the nature of its work, adding that it represents the public interest in a tripartite involving the trade unions and employers to develop a congenial industrial atmosphere for national economic development. At the Employment Centre where he addressed a group of job seekers, the minister said the problem of unemployment is tied to the economic situation. He said although the economy is not vibrant enough to give employment to all job seekers, the government is doing everything possible to solve the problem.
