Embattled Savelugu Municipal chief Executive not NPP – MP

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Savelugu Constituency, Muhammed Abdul-Samed Gunu has sided with angry youth of the area that embattled Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hajia Ayishetu Seidu is not known to the party in the area.

“Politically, she is not known to us. I cannot tell how she was shortlisted and subsequently nominated. I think the Regional Chairman of the party Mr Daniel Bugri Naabu is the best person to answer this question”, he responded on Accra-based Okay Fm.

In his view, persons who associate with the party are always seen vigorously making contributions both in cash and kind duly acknowledged by its leadership but observed that same cannot be said about the embattled MCE.

“I do not see her as an NPP member because she has never been seen in the area. If you have an intention of holding a position when there is a political activity you show up but throughout my campaign prior to the 2016 elections, I did not see her or any of her assignees. It is possible she can be a member of the party but I do not think she is known to us in Savelugu”, he revealed.

The lawmaker is however worried that his attempts to resolve the impasse between the MCE and the angry youth by establishing a mediation committee was scuttled by some faceless individuals who asked her to go to the office under armed police escort indicating that this defeats his efforts.

He however promised to contribute his quota to ensure that peace prevails since it is the prerogative of the president to determine who represents him in the area in accordance with the constitution.
