Embark on vigorous programme to market made-in-Ghana goods

Jamasi (Ash), June 16, GNA – Mr Ben Abankwa, Afigya-Sekyere District Chief Executive has stated that, the call on Ghanaians to patronise made-in-Ghana goods can be achieved through aggressive marketing strategies both locally and internationally.

To this end, he challenged marketing personnel to take up the challenge and market the locally manufactured goods.

Mr Abankwa was speaking at the inauguration of the Adu-Gyamfi Secondary School chapter of the Ghana National Association of Business Students (GNABS) at Jamasi at the weekend.

The DCE noted that, due to the lack of competent accountants in the public sector, government was losing billions of cedis, which were going into private pockets instead of the money being used to provide amenities and infrastructure for the people. He therefore challenged the students to study hard to become qualified accountants so as to render quality service to their country. Mr Abankwa called for tolerance of opposing views and use of decent language in the electioneering campaigns to ensure peaceful elections.

Mr Isaac Osei, Ashanti regional vice-president of the Ghana National Association of Business Education Teachers (GNABT), said business education had being the dominant factor in the development of any economy and in many ways had shaped the character of all societies worldwide.

He said business education guides the growth and expansion of facilities such as transportation, communications and others and therefore asked the students to be disciplined, since the association was not formed to challenge authority.

Mr K.F. Prah, Afigya-Sekyere District Director of Education, in an address read on his behalf, said government’s declaration of the Golden Age of Business can only be realised when students are well trained to be committed to their work and also be loyal, honest, trustworthy and law abiding.
