Elubo town roads construction begins

Elubo (W/R), Sept. 17, GNA – The sod has been cut for work to begin on the two-kilometre town road and the construction of culverts. Mr. Paul E. Aidoo, Western Regional Minister who cut the sod, said the total cost of the project would be 8,500 Ghana cedis and is being funded jointly by the Japanese and the Ghana governments. He said the Western Region would no longer give jobs to contractors whose major aim is the profit to the detriment of the region as a whole. “It is sad that some contractors did several shoddy works and worsened the already poor roads in the region,” he said. Mr Aidoo said the project would begin in October and would be completed in October next year.

He appealed to owners of kiosks and containers sitting on drains and close to the main road to re-locate quickly to enable the contractor to start work without any hindrances. 17 Sept 09
