Elubo border projects inaugurated

Elubo(W/R), Nov. 29, GNA – Mr Kwesi Blay, Deputy Western Regional Minister on Wednesday inaugurated a 70-feet foot bridge and a place of convenience estimated at about 500 million cedis for personnel of Custom, Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) at Elubo.

The place of convenience consists of 22 water closets including two executive ones, eight bathrooms for men and women and a modern urinal for men.

He commended CEPS for mobilising revenue to construct the projects to complement Government’s role in the provision of infrastructure in the country and called on them to be efficient, transparent and honest in their operations.

Mr Blay said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Government had not shirked its responsibilities in provision of infrastructure and its developmental agenda had been complemented by development partners like Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA), United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the communities. Mr Emmanuel Ackwerh, Assistant Commissioner of CEPS in-charge of Elubo, said Mr Africanus Owusu-Ansah, Deputy Commissioner of CEPS in-charge of Preventive, initiated the projects in 2004 to replace an outmoded KVIP when he was in-charge of Elubo.

Mr Owusu-Ansah said the footbridge would help stop the infiltration of shops into CEPS surveillance zone while the place of convenience would help protect people from diseases including HIV/AIDS. He appealed to the Jomoro District Assembly to revive an abandoned lorry park project at Elubo.
