Elubo appeals for support for face-lift

Elubo (W/R) June 25,-GNA- The people of Elubo in the Jomoro district of the Western Region have appealed for support particularly from the government to give the town a face-lift befitting its status as the main entry point on the south-western border of the country.

Nana Nyanzu Angofi II, Chief of Elubo said the town’s strategic position on the border with Cote d’ Ivoire had brought in its wake many social and environmental problems that should to be tackled without further delay.

Addressing a durbar to mark the fourth anniversary of his installation at Elubo on Saturday, he said the town, which is fast growing in size and population lacked many facilities like a modern market, schools, good drainage system.

Nana Angofi appealed to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports to provide the community with a Senior Secondary School (SSS) to enable children who complete Junior Secondary School (JSS) to continue their education without difficulty.

He said the community has initiated a library project to inculcate the habit of reading in the youth and appealed to Non-governmental Organisations and other institutions for material and monetary assistance to complete the project.

Nana Angofi spoke about the poor sanitation in the town and called on the Jomoro District Assembly to help to arrest the situation to avoid the outbreak of epidemic.

Nana Angofi, known in private life as Anthony Wiredu, a Charted Accountant by profession said the Judicial Committee of the Western Regional House of Chief had settled the protracted chieftaincy dispute that polarised the community.
