Elmina Accident Claims Seven Lives

Six people including a woman lost their lives when a taxi they were travelling on from Cape Coast to Elmina on Tuesday was involved in an accident at CP on the Cape Coast/Takoradi highway.

Superintendent of Police Joseph Haywood said a truck with three people on board veered off its lane and crashed into the taxi, killing all the six occupants on the spot.

The impact threw the mate of the truck through its windscreen, killing him instantly. The dead are yet to be identified. It took the police more than two hours to retrieve the mate’s body that got trapped under the truck.

When the Ghana News Agency got to the scene, the mangled taxi and the truck were in a ditch. The driver of the truck and one other person in it are on admission at the Central Regional Hospital. The bodies are yet to be identified.
