Ellembelle District Assembly to distribute free exercise books to students

Nkroful (W/R), March 15, GNA – The Ellembelle District Assembly has taken delivery of free exercise books from Central Government for onward distribution to students in the area. This forms part of measures to aid learning in the schools and reduce the burden of parents in buying books. The District Chief Executive , Daniel K. Eshun made this known to the Ghana News Agency at Nkroful.

He said the Nyaniba Junior High Schools at Esiama and Nkroful would be the first point of call for the distribution of the books. The Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah described the distribution of the exercise books as timely and crucial. He said investing in school children was part of the better Ghana agenda of the government and pledged his support to teachers in the distric= t in the quest to improve teaching and learning. Mr. Buah said the regrettable days of learning under trees among schoo= l children were over in the district.

“No child will learn under trees in this district again especially in this era when we want to invest in education and infrastructure,” he emphasized. Mr. Buah said he had initiated a number of interventions, as part of efforts to wipe out poverty, kick out illiteracy and improve education in the district. These include teachers award, annual children’s party, scholarship schemes, open time with parents and distribution of learning materials. 15 March 10
