‘Elephant size’ gov’t unfortunate; Akufo-Addo must realign some ministries – Mornah

National Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Ambataayela Mornah, has described as ‘unfortunate’ the number of appointees President Akufo Addo has chosen for his administration.

President Nana Addo’s decision to appoint some 110 Ministers including deputies and regional ministers, has generated lots of controversies. Critics are concerned that it will have a negative impact on the public purse.

According to Mornah, the number of ministers chosen does not support Akufo Addo’s quest to protect the public purse.

“It is totally unfortunate; every Ghanaian is worried about the size of government. How can a president complaining of an empty public purse increase the number of appointees who will all get the benefits of an appointee when they assume office? I am troubled by this…I hope the president will realign some of the ministries for us to have value for money…”

Bernard Mornah was contributing to a panel discussion on Radio Gold’s Alhaji and Alhaji, Saturday.
