Electronic voting introduced at University of Education

Winneba (C/R), May 4, GNA – The Association of English Education Students (ASSENS) of the University of Education, Winneba, has adopted an electronic system of voting in its local elections to elect its executives. This follows the introduction of electronic voting by the Association of Mathematics Education Students (AMES) of the University in April last year. The seven-member executive has Mr Danda Razak-Abdul as President, Mr Faith Adamkie Perpremas as Vice-President, Mr Philip Addo as Secretary and Ms Josephine Baffoe as Treasurer.

The rest are Mr Koree Kwadwo, Finance Officer, Mr Paul Nyavie as librarian and Mr Francis Teye as the Public Relations Officer. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, the Electoral Commissioner of ASSENS, Mr Julius Afenyo said his outfit had realized the importance of electronic voting and therefore sought the needed assistance from their counterparts.

He described the electronic system of voting as easier compared to the manual one since results are declared on time. Mr Razak-Abdul said he would organize an interactive event dubbed “Meet-Your-Lecturers Series” to bridge the communication gap between lecturers and students. He said he would work hand in hand with the University authorities to ensure that more lecture halls were provided.
