Electrician remanded for defilement

Half-Assini Magistrate Court in the Western Region, has remanded a 19-year old Electrician in two weeks prison custody for abducting and defiling a 15-year old girl.

Sampson Ackah from Krisan near Eikwe in Ellembele District, pleaded guilty to the first charge.

His plea to the second charge was not taken.

The court, presided over by Mr Abdul Majid Illiasu, ordered him to reappear on June 2.

Presenting the facts of the case, Police Sergeant Isaac Otoo, said the complainant, Mr Sampson, father of the victim live at Nawulley near Tikobo Number One whilst the accused is from Krisan.

The Prosecutor said, in February this year, Ackah convinced the girl and they entered into a covenant that they would not separate from each other.

He said at 1800 hours on Sunday May 8, the accused came to Nawulley and picked the victim to Allowuley near Tikobo Number One, where he defiled and kept her till the next day.

The prosecution said about 1600 hours the next day, the accused had the information that the victim’s father and relatives were looking for her so he released her to go home.

He said when the victim, went home and she was questioned, she narrated her ordeal to them.

According to the prosecution, a report was made to Bonyere Police who issued a medical form to the complainant to take the victim to the hospital for examination.

He said, victim was sent to Half-Assini Government Hospital where the medical officer at the facility confirmed that her hymen had been broken.

The Prosecutor said the accused was arrested and after investigations, he was arraigned.
