Electrician in court for whipping sister

An electrician who smashed his sister head with an unknown object and whipped her with electric cable has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.

Kwami Amegashie allegedly carried out this action during a scuffle over where his sister had placed her kiosk in their father house at Banana Inn in Accra.

Charged with causing harm and damage, Amegashie pleaded not guilty.

The Court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku admitted Amegashie to bail in the sum of GH¢7,000 cedis to reappear on February 1.

Prosecuting Detective Inspector J.B Asante said the complainant Victoria Amegashie is a trader and she is the sister of the accused person, both reside at Banana Inn.

He said during the month of October last year, Madam Victoria sought permission from the accused person to place her kiosk near their father’s house to enable her sell soup.

The prosecutor said accused person agreed to the request so in December 2015, the complainant placed the kiosk near the house.

He said to the complainant’s surprise, accused person wrote on the Kiosk “remove before December 12, 2015,” and pushed the kiosk down.

Accused, prosecution said, went again on December 19, last year and destroyed the kiosk.

He said when the complainant confronted her brother, he became annoyed and the two exchanged words.

The prosecutor said the accused person then smashed the complainant’s head with an unknown object and whipped her with an electrical wire.

He said the complainant as a result from the whipping bled from the nose and head.

The prosecutor said a report was made to the Police who picked up the accused person while a medical form was given to the complainant to attend medical care.
