Electrical cable blast at Weija disrupts water supply

The Ghana Water Company Limited has warned citizens of Weija and its environs to brace themselves for severe water crisis.

According to GWCL, the water supply disruption is as a result of an electrical cable blast at the Weija Treatment Plant.

The water disruption has affected areas such as Dansoman, Mallam, Kasoa and Korle Bu. Some of these areas have already been without water since Thursday.

Chief Manager for Communications at GWCL, Michael Agyemang, said even though power has been restored it would take some time before residents would start seeing water in their homes.

He told Citi FM in an interview Friday morning, that they couldn’t pump water into the city on Thursday as a result of the power outage.

Mr. Agyemang, however, failed to mention if the current power outage was the cause of the blast at the treatment plant at Weija.
